Egenskaper

Ved kronisk migrene gir behandling med botulinumtoksin (Botox) en liten reduksjon i antall dager med hodepine. Virkningsmekanismen for botulinumtoksin ved kronisk migrene er ikke fullt ut kjent.

Indikasjoner

Symptomlindring hos voksne som oppfyller kriteriene for kronisk migrene hos pasienter som har respondert utilfredsstillende eller er intolerante overfor profylaktisk behandling av migrenen.

Dosering og administrasjon

155–195 E injiseres på 31–39 steder i sju muskler på hver side i nakke- og hoderegionen. Behandlingen gjentas hver 12. uke. Behandlingen bør avsluttes etter første injeksjon ved manglende respons etter 12 uker.
